Affordable high end video for post production or broadcast has arrived.
DeckLink lets you connect to SDI digital or analog broadcast decks for high end
editing, design, paint and broadcast graphics.
Connect to HD-SDI or SD-SDI
With 4 models to choose from, DeckLink HD cards make the move to high
definition affordable while still retaining compatibility with your current
standard definition equipment. All DeckLink HD series cards are dual rate, so
you can switch between HD-SDI and SD-SDI instantly. That’s great for connecting
to standard definition SDI decks such as Digital Betacam™ or the latest HDCAM™
or HD D-5™ decks. DeckLink cards all feature the highest quality 10 bit SDI, so
your video capture retains all the subtle detail in your images, even during
multi generation rendering and video processing. DeckLink HD Pro™ models include
14 bit analog video monitoring which switches automatically between standard
definition and high definition, which is great for CRT monitoring.
Built-in Professional Quality Audio
All DeckLink HD cards feature unbalanced AES digital audio out for incredible
quality and sample accurate AV sync. DeckLink unbalanced AES audio outputs are
also compatible with S/PDIF consumer audio, so you can use inexpensive HiFi
equipment for audio monitoring. DeckLink HD Plus™ and DeckLink HD Pro models
include AES input and word clock output locked to video reference. All DeckLink
HD models include SDI embedded audio support with a massive 12 channels of audio
when switched to HD-SDI and 8 channels when switched to SD-SDI.
Choose Windows XP or Mac OS X
DeckLink cards can be plugged into either Windows XP or Mac OS X systems. You
can move DeckLink cards between operating systems allowing you to constantly
reconfigure your facility as your needs change. On Windows XP™, DeckLink
supports DirectShow™ for compatibility with most video software. For editing,
DeckLink includes a full suite of plug-ins for Adobe Premiere Pro™ including
deck control. DeckLink is a world leader on Apple Mac OS X™ with QuickTime™
support for full compatibility with all video software such as Apple Final Cut
Pro HD™, Adobe After Effects™, Shake™, DVD Studio Pro™, iDVD™, Combustion™ and
many more.
Highest Quality Analog Monitoring
DeckLink HD Pro models (Dual Link and Single Link) include high quality analog
monitoring output, great when using a CRT monitors. Unlike the built-in SDI
inputs on CRT monitors, DeckLink HD Pro analog output switches automatically
between HD or SD so you can change standards without changing cables on your
system. DeckLink HD Pro's analog output quality is the highest available with 14
bit digital to analog converters and active electronic video filtering. This
means you get increased digital to analog conversion precision combined with a
flatter frequency response, so your video will retain the clarity of all your
fine picture detail.
High Definition or Standard Definition
DeckLink cards feature dual rate SDI so you can switch between high definition
or standard definition easily and instantly. You can now connect to 270 Mbps
standard definition SDI equipment such as Digital Betacam™, as well as 1.485
Gbps high definition SDI equipment such as HDCAM or HD-D5 all using the same
card. You can edit in standard definition now and switch to high definition
whenever you need it. Only DeckLink HD cards allow you to move between standards
this easily.
Full 4:4:4 Color Detail for Feature Film Quality
All DeckLink HD cards feature high quality 4:2:2 SDI connectivity and for
increased color resolution, the DeckLink HD Pro 4:4:4 model has dual SDI inputs
and outputs for Dual Link 4:4:4 support. Dual Link is compatible with the new
Sony HDCAM SR™ series decks as well as HDLink™ and Multibridge™ from Blackmagic
Design for unprecedented full color resolution quality. That’s great for
seamless keys and critical multi-layer compositing for feature film work.
DeckLink HD Pro 4:4:4 even features hardware color space conversion so 4:4:4
clips can be played to 4:2:2 SDI decks, and 4:2:2 clips can be played out to
4:4:4 decks such as the new Sony HDCAM SR™.
Software Compatibility
With DeckLink HD’s open standard design, you can use a wide range of video
software. DeckLink is compatible with QuickTime and DirectShow which means you
can use any QuickTime or DirectShow software in standard definition, high
definition and even 4:4:4 10 bit RGB HD. Unlike pre-built systems, with DeckLink
you can customize your system for different tasks. Use Final Cut Pro HD on Mac
OS X or Premiere Pro on Windows XP for editing. Use Adobe After Effects™ and
Photoshop™ for broadcast design and paint and then DVD authoring software to
give your clients a DVD of your work. The choice is yours.
True 10 Bit Uncompressed SDI Capture and Playback
DeckLink HD cards support full 10 bit SDI uncompressed video capture and
playback for better quality than any other system - at any price. Ideal for
Digital Betacam™ , HDCAM™ and Panasonic HD D-5™ decks, uncompressed 10 bit is
the highest quality possible from the SDI television system. The Blackmagic
codec allows 16 bit RGB per channel rendering preserving the quality of 10 bit
video. Only 10 bit uncompressed will hold up under the heavy working conditions
demanded by clients today, while still retaining that delicate film look.
Flexible File Formats
When used with Mac OS X and Windows XP operating systems, you can select from
the highest quality 10 bit uncompressed and 8 bit uncompressed. When used on Mac
OS X™, DeckLink includes support for DV and JPEG compressed video formats. On
Windows XP™, you can choose between AVI and QuickTime™ file formats and even
play back TARGA and BMP image sequences in the Premiere Pro™ timeline without
rendering. No other card has such wide support for various file formats and
operating systems for cross-platform compatibility. DeckLink uncompressed
QuickTime™ files can even be freely moved between Mac OS X™ and Windows XP™
systems.
Down Conversion and Real Time Effects
On Mac OS X and Windows XP platforms, the DeckLink HD Pro 4:4:4 model
features dual SDI outputs which can be used for simultaneous HD and SD playback.
Great for monitoring in HD and SD at the same time. When running exclusively on
Mac OS X™ with G5-based dual-processor systems and PCI-X, all DeckLink HD models
feature our new software-based broadcast quality down conversion. Brilliant for
instantly mastering HD edits to standard definition. That's perfect when you’re
working in HD for future-proof mastering, but still delivering in standard
definition! Both hardware and software based down conversions use our custom
poly-phase interpolation and filtering processing for incredible quality with
conversion at the highest 10 bit precision. DVCPRO HD™ multi-layer editing in
Mac OS X™ with Final Cut Pro HD™ can also be downconverted and played out in
standard definition, even when running complex multi-layer HD real time effects.
Loads of Software Utilities Free
All DeckLink cards include free software utilities developed to assist real
world production needs. DeckLink HD Plus and DeckLink HD Pro models support
keying so you can key graphics over live input video in real time. Controlled by
an application called Blackmagic LiveKey it’s a snap to switch DeckLink into a
keying card. For broadcast graphics and paint we include Photoshop™ plug-ins for
capture and output of still frames. If you need DPX image sequences for DI
workflow, our new Blackmagic FrameLink™ lets you instantly access QuickTime and
AVI media as DPX files. Our famous Blackmagic Deck Control™ application lets you
control a deck remotely via RS-422. Capture and play clips to and from tape with
timecode accuracy, which is great for broadcast design. For easy disk array
setup we include Blackmagic Disk Speed Test™ for real world checking of your
capture disk, with speed results displayed in easy to understand video frames
per second. When moving media between systems, use our free Blackmagic Software
Codec for reading and rendering media, even when you don’t have DeckLink
hardware installed.

All DeckLink cards have the same powerful features. Only the video and audio
connections differ between models. There is a DeckLink model specifically
designed with connectivity for different types of broadcast decks, so you get
only what you need at the most affordable price.
