Workgroup Videohub eliminates complicated manual cable patching by connecting everyone together into a fully featured professional routing switcher - which previously only large television companies could afford. Workgroup Videohub automatically switches between standard definition SDI and high definition SDI with full 12x24 routing. With 12 extra independent SDI monitoring outputs allowing separate monitoring direct from the router. Also included are 12 RS-422 deck control ports with two channels in internal processing for HD down conversion, and a keying frame store. Compatibility with all SDI based equipment is assured, as all connections are compliant with SMPTE-292M, SMPTE-259M, SMPTE-296M and ITU-R BT.656.
Video routing switchers are popular in high end post production because they allow non technical people to connect to each other and share broadcast decks, without the complexity of manual cable patching. Remote switching via your IP network means you don’t even need to walk to a central patch panel - great when there are many people are working on the same client job.
Independent Monitoring
Because most editors love to have "direct from the router" monitoring, Workgroup Videohub has 12 independent outputs totally dedicated for monitoring. Independent monitoring outputs are great when you have more than one person working on a job and you need to quickly look at decks and other editing system in your facility. You can also use monitoring outputs to connect consumer VHS and DVD recorders via analog converters such as Multibridge™.
Deck Control Routing
With 12 independent Sony compatible RS-422 serial control ports included, each editing system can control any deck in your facility. Each deck control connection is independently reversible via software control, so it’s easy to connect edit stations or decks to any of the 12 deck control ports. Reversible deck control serial ports are ideal when using deck-to-deck editing or deck emulation DDR software.
Standard Definition or HDTV
With Workgroup Videohub it’s easy to run standard definition equipment now and add HDTV equipment as you transition in the future. Workgroup Videohub handles mixed standard definition and HD-SDI equipment connections on the same router, and at the same time. Because Workgroup Videohub supports both HD and standard definition routing, you can mix older standard definition and newer HD-SDI equipment at the same time. Unlike other routers, SDI re-clocking and output SDI slew rates are automatically configured as SDI inputs change.
Integrated Video Processing
The most exciting features of Workgroup Videohub is its powerful real time video processor. Integration with the router is via an additional 2 SDI input and output connection, so users can still access all 12 inputs and 24 outputs without limitation.
Real time video processing allows high quality down conversion and simultaneous keying frame store, with customizable video frames loaded onto the host, and downloaded via USB on demand from any client computer. Our keying frame store is great for test signals, identity logos, working in both high definition and standard definition.
SDI Re-Clocking
Workgroup Videohub includes full SDI re-clocking, critical when connecting long length SDI cables to and from the router. Some routers don’t re-clock the SDI signal, so connecting inputs to outputs with long cables attached can cause image breakdowns because of SDI errors. Workgroup Videohub eliminates this problem by regenerating the SDI signal on all video connections so all users get clean and error free SDI video feeds.
Network Router Control
Workgroup Videohub uses software control panels running on Windows XP™ and Mac OS X. This lets you control the router from the same system you edit on. Workgroup Videohub connects to any computer via USB, and then shares over the IP network in a similar way a USB printer's sharing works. Any computer can be the host and simply connecting to the router via a USB 2.0 connection activates that computer as the host, and allows other computers on your network to connect. Router labels can be changed from any computer and are all unicode compatible for non roman character sets such as Japanese, Chinese and Korean. Destination locking is supported so you can protect a router output when doing critical on air or dubbing work.
Compact Size for Flexible Installation
Workgroup Videohub has fully reversible rack mounting in a compact 3 Rack Unit size. At less than 1 inch deep Workgroup Videohub can be mounted front side for traditional installation, backwards for patch panel installation, or on the rear side of an a equipment racks to save valuable space.
