Short Description

The new Blackmagic multiview 16, enables simultaneous multiview of 4-16 SD-Ultra HD sources.

Available to pre-order.

Blackmagic MultiView 16 is the world’s first multi viewer that operates natively in Ultra HD, which allows you to use an Ultra HD monitor or television for twice the image sharpness, even if you are not even using Ultra HD in your facility yet! Now you can connect up to 16 different SD, HD and Ultra HD SDI sources into one display for monitoring! Blackmagic MultiView 16 allows 4, 9 or 16 views to be selected and each input includes a full frame re-synchronizer so you can have any combination of SD, HD and Ultra HD SDI sources connected, all at the same time!

Incredibly Sharp Monitoring

View up to 16 sources on a single screen!

With the availability of Ultra HD consumer televisions, now it’s possible to use the extra resolution these displays have to build incredibly sharp multi view monitoring at low cost. Imagine having big screen televisions in your facility with high resolution monitoring of each view! That’s twice the resolution of a normal multi view! Blackmagic MultiView 16 is incredibly flexible as it allows you to choose from 2x2 layout for 4 sources, 3x3 layout for 9 sources and 4x4 layout for 16 simultaneous sources, all from the front panel. Each of the inputs can be any combination of SD, HD and Ultra HD, all at the same time so it's just like having 16 independent broadcast monitors on the single display!

Studio or Live Use!

Multi source monitoring designed for broadcasters

Multi view monitoring is ideal whether you’re building a massive control room with lots of incoming feeds or are working on location in tight spaces that don’t have room for multiple monitors. Blackmagic MultiView 16 can be used for live production, on set, in control rooms, post facilities and more! With Blackmagic MultiView 16 you don’t need to connect multiple monitors, dozens of cables or run extra power to see all of your video sources! Simply plug your cameras, decks, switchers, routers and feeds into the SDI connections and you can see everything with amazing clarity and detail on a single Ultra HD monitor!

Use HD or Ultra HD Monitors

Works with an Ultra HD monitor so you get
twice the sharpness

MultiView 16 works with both regular HD as well as the latest Ultra HD displays, so you get maximum compatibility with your existing HD equipment but have the choice to use an Ultra HD monitor for incredible sharpness. That’s four times the number of pixels in each view so your video will look sharper and clearer than ever before possible. Using an Ultra HD monitor means you get an incredible 1920 x 1080 full resolution HD in each view when running 2x2 for 4 views. Even if you're running 4x4 for 16 views, each view will still display an amazing 960 x 540 pixels! You get both 6G-SDI and HDMI outputs so you can connect direct to televisions, video projectors and broadcast monitors.

Elegant Design

Easy to use, interactive design for real time use!

Featuring a compact, machined metal single rack unit design, MultiView 16 is incredibly easy to use because it has dedicated buttons on the front panel for quickly selecting any source into any of the views. Once selected, video can be routed to any position on the grid at the push of a button or you can simply use the spin knob control so it works just like a video router. Use the SOLO button for instant full screen monitoring of any source at any time! MultiView 16 also features a built in multi voltage AC power supply and professional broadcast 6G-SDI input connections with loop through so it integrates easily into any facility.

6G-SDI Multi Rate SDI Connections

Supports any combination of SD, HD and Ultra HD video sources

MultiView 16 includes sixteen multi rate 6G-SDI inputs with separate loop thru that are compatible with all of your existing SD, HD and Ultra HD equipment. It does not matter what video standard each input connection is running as each input view will act as an independent video monitor, so you can even have up to 16 different video standards connected all at the same time! All inputs feature automatic re-sync so you can even mix and match non referenced SD, HD, and Ultra HD sources! The reference input is included if you want to connect the Blackmagic MultiView 16 to other studio equipment.

External “Router” Control

Supports Videohub router protocol for easy external control!

MultiView 16 includes Ethernet which emulates a Blackmagic Videohub router protocol so you get full compatibility with all of the external Videohub software and hardware control panels for routing any of the inputs onto any of the monitoring views. Blackmagic MultiView 16 can also be controlled via the included software utility on Mac or Windows computers so that you can quickly change settings remotely if access to the front panel is restricted! You can even add on screen labels and other settings remotely!

With a design that includes an interactive front panel, you can mount Blackmagic MultiView 16 in desks so that you can interact with it, changing the display mode and rearranging inputs as you need. When you need to install behind monitors, Blackmagic MultiView 16 can be remote controlled via the external Ethernet settings so you can change settings if required. Its small size means you can mount it in any environment, for any type of job!

Live Production

Portable and sharp camera monitoring!

Now you can monitor all of your cameras on a single television on location or in the field to get a simple live production workflow. Blackmagic MultiView 16 is compact, lightweight and portable so is perfect for fly away kits or broadcast trucks used for live production work! Build the most amazing master control rooms with massive wall mounted televisions displaying up to 16 video sources at the same time! You’ll be able to handle any type of incoming feed because Blackmagic MultiView 16 features multi rate 6G-SDI inputs with loop outputs, combined with automatic frame re-synchronization on each input! That means you get compatibility with all major SD, HD and Ultra HD formats! You can control Blackmagic MultiView 16 from the front panel so you can interact with it in real time and quickly reconfigure it based on your real time changing requirements for master control monitoring.

Broadcast Studio Production

Advanced monitoring for multi camera production

Blackmagic MultiView 16 simplifies your multi camera studio production by consolidating all sources onto a single, high resolution Ultra HD display! Monitor cameras, see SDI tally, and quickly check for matching color, exposure and focus. With a single, high resolution display you get incredible clarity and never have to worry about calibrating multiple monitors again. You’ll be able to quickly see if the color on one camera is different and fix it before it becomes a problem!

Post Production

Get a full overview of your router

Blackmagic MultiView 16 is the perfect solution for seeing all of the video that’s going through your facility! With its loop through video inputs and support for any video standard on any input, you can loop your SDI router outputs through the multi view and then use the monitoring to get a real time overview of your whole facility. You can even feed the Blackmagic MultiView 16 SDI output back into your router so anyone in your company can quickly see whats going on facility wide! For larger installations, you can even control it remotely using Videohub hardware control panels over Ethernet!

Durable and rugged design for 24/7 reliability!

The machined metal, one rack unit sized design of the Blackmagic MultiView 16 is built for 24/7 dependability. You get a design that’s durable and rugged enough to be used in the studio or on location in broadcast trucks. The front panel features 16 buttons for direct entry routing of inputs to different views, or you can use the LCD screen and spin knob control. MultiView 16’s controls operate the same way as Blackmagic Design’s video routers so you can simply route inputs to the views in any order you like!

Machined Metal

Super tough, lightweight and elegant design!

The modern design of the Blackmagic MultiView 16 front panel is crafted from aircraft grade aluminum so it looks great, plus is a rugged design that will withstand years of front panel use when in an extremely busy environment. Designed with features allowing the management of complex multi source productions, the front panel includes illuminated buttons, a built in LCD screen and spin knob control. Whether you’re using it in the studio, mounting it in a broadcast truck or even using it on location, Blackmagic MultiView 16 can stand up to the rigorous stress of professional production work!

Super Fast Control

The easiest and most flexible multi view you’ll ever use!

When you’re working on a live production or in a master control room, you need to be able to quickly switch views on the fly. Setting up and using MultiView 16 couldn’t be easier! There are no confusing menus, cryptic buttons or long manuals to read. The front panel has 16 simple buttons, one for each of your video sources. The LCD screen, spin knob, and SRC/VIEW buttons, let you place each source into any position on the multi view grid. There’s even a SOLO button for instantly viewing a single source!

External Software Control

Get full control from your Mac or Windows computer

MultiView 16 can be connected to a standard Ethernet IP network and uses Bonjour so it’s automatically recognized by Mac and Windows computers running the control panel software! That means you can control Blackmagic MultiView 16 remotely, even if it’s in a hard to reach rack or equipment closet, or on the other side of the world! The software uses attractive, easy to understand icons and push buttons, making it simple and intuitive to use. You can easily add router labels to your outputs, view tally indicators and more!

Hardware Control Panels

Remote control panels in your facility

When you’re working in a larger facility, you may want to control your Blackmagic MultiView 16 from other locations other than the front panel itself. That’s easy because you can control Blackmagic MultiView 16 using Blackmagic’s Videohub Smart Control or Videohub Master Control hardware panels! Simply plug the control panel into the Ethernet network for push button control! The hardware panels even support power over Ethernet so they can be installed in locations without external power!

Loop Through SDI

Connect multi view in line with your SDI feeds for easy installation!

The future proof design of Blackmagic MultiView 16 includes multi rate 6G-SDI inputs with low jitter and automatic frame re-synchronization of all inputs. Each loop output is reclocked so you can put the Blackmagic MultiView 16 inline with other SDI equipment such as on the inputs to live production switchers for camera source monitoring, or on the outputs of SDI video outputs to create monitoring overviews of all the live feeds in your facility! That’s incredible flexibility and reduces your need to have reserved router outputs dedicated just to monitoring.

Flexible Installation

Mounts in consoles, racks, desks and more!

Even though Blackmagic MultiView 16 is designed to be rack mounted, it’s still small enough to be placed behind monitors and in tight locations, even inside walls! The secret is the remote Ethernet control allowing installation into locations where you cannot easily access the front panel. With a full control panel built in, Blackmagic MultiView 16 is ideal for mounting in consoles and desks so you can change settings, set views, route inputs and access the SOLO feature at the push of a button. Blackmagic MultiView 16 is not much larger than a simple control panel, but includes all the electronics built into its small size so it’s easy to install when space is tight.

International AC Power

Worldwide AC voltage compatibility allows worldwide use!

The built in power supply supports 90V to 240V AC so it can be used anywhere internationally and will just work when plugged in. Often broadcast trucks and fly away kits need to be moved between countries that operate under different voltages, and now it’s easy to do that because Blackmagic MultiView 16 includes a premium multi voltage power supply that’s able to handle a wide range of voltages.
