Introducing KONA LS, the highest quality and most flexible Standard Definition PCI QuickTime capture card available. KONA LS supports both analog and digital audio/video I/O, all at a dramatically lower price. AJA has made a huge investment developing KONA capture cards, making them the preferred choice in the broadcast industry for performance and stability. Now, with KONA LS, rock-solid audio/video performance, along with AJA’s famous factory support, is affordable for any project.

KONA LS can be used with an Apple Power Mac G5, RAID storage, computer display, and video monitor, along with Apple Final Cut Pro, to achieve the same editing quality as an expensive turnkey suite. Supporting native 10-bit uncompressed resolution, KONA LS provides the highest quality available within SMPTE SDI standards.

KONA LS’s analog interfaces are the best in the industry. Using superb quality 12 bit video A/D and D/A converters, analog formats like BetaCam SP have never looked better. KONA LS supports 8 and 10 bit uncompressed video, DV25 and DV50 using the DVCPRO codec, and JPEG, all on an Apple Power Mac G5. In addition to the highest quality in video, KONA LS supports balanced analog, AES/EBU, and embedded audio I/O, all at 24 bits and 48Khz. For simplified system integration, KONA LS also includes hardware sample-rate conversion for AES inputs (eliminating annoying synchronization hassles)—and RS-422 machine control.

Flexible I/O Options

KONA LS offers unsurpassed cable connectivity for a video/audio capture card. Simply plug in the supplied breakout cable. The breakout cable supports:-

Both reliable and convenient, KL-Box can be rackmounted or used on a desktop. KL-Box also supports an additional 2 Channel “RCA” style audio monitoring output.

Software Support

Well, the new KONA family of cards also offers incredible software inside: QuickTime drivers optimized for AJA’s hardware, written and supported by AJA. Additionally, the new KONA control panel simplifies A/V control and also supports a stand-alone mode.

KONA Desktop - Beyond Final Cut Pro

Most Mac-based systems these days run multiple applications to create their video projects. So in addition to Final Cut Pro support, the KONA LS Desktop feature allows broadcast design elements to be viewed in a proper aspect ratio and color depth on a broadcast monitor via the KONA LS card. KONA Desktop supports Apple Motion™, Adobe After Effects™, Adobe Photoshop™, Apple Shake™, and Discreet Combustion™.
