Any seasoned producer or editor knows there's a potential for discontinuities (breaks) in timecode on video tapes. Although this can occur on any format video media, DV tapes are especially susceptible. So how do you KNOW the tape your locally hired cameraman hands you won't cause trouble digitizing into the editor?
TCDetective Pro is a simple time saving utility designed to help verify the integrity of source video tapes prior to use. TCDetective Pro scans tapes, at selectable speeds and sensitivity, and reports the number of apparent clips based on timecode gaps in a printable table.
A typical 60 minute DV tape takes about 5 minutes to complete a scan at the highest speed (Fast Forward). Isn't a 5 minute insurance policy and the peace of mind worth the potential hours you could lose not knowing about a "bad" spot or two?
- Scans tapes at Fast Shuttle or Fast Forward speeds
- Adjustable break detection (min. gap 2 frames accuracy)
- Displays Begin and End (relative position on tape) timecodes for each clip
- Reference timecode (relative position on tape) displayed for DV tapes
- Up to 24 breaks per tape
- Prints scan results with Tape Name, speed and minimum gap settings
