In order to perform a live key, the foreground and background video must be combined using a hardware keyer. World renowned for their broadcast keyers, Ultimatte have produced a keyer aimed at the DV market. Ultimatte DV has connectivity for composite, SVideo and Firewire video signals for foreground, background and composited output.
Ultimatte DV, opens the door to many users searching for a cost effective tool for live playout. It will also be used as a pre-visual tool giving valuable information to the director and camera crew during the filming process. They will now be able to view how the final production might appear rather than only seeing the camera feed on a preview monitor.
Logical and simple to operate controls offer the DV user unrivalled control over the matte parameters. The operator can quickly compare the input signal, the matte and the composite output via a single monitor connection. Internally generated test signals ensure the highest quality output is maintained. An internal framestore not only allows non synchronous signals to be combined, (a big advantage as many DV cameras do not have a genlock facility) but also enables the user to store a background frame in memory. The unit will also function as a transcoder enabling the user to convert between video formats.
